It was one of my German lesson at INTEC where we were taught about cultures in Germany. The differences, there's no doubt about it. But, there's one thing that's almost the same. Cartoons that we enjoyed watching in our childhood.

I was sitting last night with my multi-racial friends (1 french, 2 german-born turkish, 1 german) outside a bar enjoying our half-priced cocktails (i bought one with no alcohol of course ;) ). Suddenly the turkish guy brought up a question that made us reminisce.
"Hey, you guys know Captain Balu?"
I really dont know who he is. None of us did. The question was brought up out of nowhere that i thought he is someone famous in this world. Then he explained,
"He is a bear who could fly a plane. Hooo-hii-yea Baa-looo! Hooo-hii-yooo Baa-loo!"
Now we recognized that song. It was TaleSpin in Malaysia! Ohh how classic! How could i forget about him. Haha. He really brought back some of my lost memories.
Our trash talk continued on the same topic.
"How about Chip und Chap? The squirrels (de: Eichhörnchen)," the turkish guy asked another what-cartoon-did-you-watch-as-a-kid question.
Chip and Dale! Haha..It really sounds weird here in Germany.. Chip and Chap?!! LOL.
"Ch-ch-ch-ch Chip und Chap!"
I laughed my ass off real hard. Damn! It's so damn funny hearing it. How could the germans change the name to that!
Then he moved on to the next question : Gummibärchen (Gummi bears). At first i thought it was actually Care Bears. The french also thought of the same. He even asked one of his friend at another table. Thrice!. Hahaha. He was quite sure that it was Care Bears after asking his friend. It was not though. When the French came back for the third time, he suddenly sang
"Tinky-Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa, Po"
We all laughed. He even thought it was Teletubbies. What's more, we didnt really watch that show. So we all laughed on him and said "You are still young. Only 20 years old. We weren't born with Teletubbies!"
And only after asking Mr. YouTube today that i know what Gummi Bears is. Ohh..Another lost memory have been dug. We talked about some other cartoons. But it could take a whole night to write them all. Hehe
What a funny topic to discuss. It was a fun night after all.
But my favourite cartoons of all time will be and will always be Tomato-man and the Knights of the Salad Table and Dash Yonkuro. Enjoy!
I will check out my VHS tapes when i'm back home. Hopefully my Tomato-man and Dash Yonkuro still survive.

Teringat pula zaman dial-up..
Menutup CPU dengan bantal supaya bunyi tidak didengari ibu bapa yang sedang tidur..
Dahulu 52KBps sudah memadai..
download mp3 mengambil masa 10 minit.. tunggu dengan mata bersinar-sinar dan penuh sabar..
pastu burn sume lagu dalam CD.. jual kepada rakan2 di sekolah.. format CD Audio sahaja..huhuhu..
Sebab kalau mp3 bleh letak banyak2.. tak balik modal kalau jual..
Kalau cuti sekolah, pasti bil internet melambung..
pantang ada masa lapang.. dan waktu malam..
ambil bantal..tutup CPU.. klik dial..

"Ish, nanti balik asrama, siapa nak pakai?" abah aku mengcounter.
"alaa..bulan 11 ngn 12 bil internet mesti atleast total rm700..klu pki streamyx 10 bulan baru rm660," aku membalas menggunakan matematik moden..
"pastu leh surf ngan download banyak2 lak tu," aku meracun lagi
abah aku nampak kerasionalan aku..lalu bermulalah streamyx di rumah..hoyeah..
Selamat tinggal dial-up.. bunyi kamu sangat dirindui.. terima kasih kepada web itu kerana mengingatkan aku kepada masa lampau..
oh ya..screamyx cam bermasalah je skrg..slow betul!!!..huhu
